A Little Bird Told Me!

I took a trip to India in December 2019. After a month long travel, I came back to Seattle and the gray skies wholeheartedly welcomed me in the new year 2020!

I was back into my studio, into a different timezone, into a different weather. Usually, I am over excited to get to my studio and paint. This time it was a little challenging, painting felt overwhelming. My jet-lag took over, my homesickness added on and the sunless cloudy weather enhanced my cheerless response to the change.

The entire month of January 2020 was spent to settle down, I missed my family in India so much that I would video call them everyday and spend hours speaking and later feel disappointed that I haven't painted!!

I reconnected with all my wonderful artist community in Seattle, all my Seattle friends happily helped me get over this melancholy.

And then, a little inspiration came along, "A little Bird told me" a series of three Goldfinch paintings took place. I gently transitioned into my studio with painting smaller (8x10") canvas.

I thought the birds are messengers to remind me that rain or shine be fully in the experience. Embrace the winter beauty around, be astonished by the moody gray skies and fill them with my colors. A little bird told me to ease into the natural wonders instead of developing a resistance to a particular season or a reason, cherish it!

A little bird told me to awaken all my senses to fully experience what's in front of me, watch the dance of the branches of the winter trees, smell the wet grounds after the rain, feel the snow in my hands.

Wow! I already feel rich, abundant and blessed for being able to cherish these natural treasures.
